Abstract / Editor's Note: New-generation artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping human socio-economic activity with unprecedented depth and breadth and is becoming deeply embedded in urban spatial systems. AI is emerging as a core force shaping future urban form, governance models, and rules of operation. As cities move from conventional "smart cities" toward more deeply intelligent "AI cities," a key theoretical issue and contemporary challenge for planning is how algorithms, computing power, and data will restructure urban space, how the evolution of such space can be anticipated, and how planning should respond. To address these questions, the editorial office invited ten experts to join an academic dialogue on "AI urban space: transformations, trends, and planning responses," focusing on urban cognition, virtual-real space, infrastructure, economic and social relations, and planning governance. Their main views are summarized below.
